You digital certificate is used in conjunction with your E-mail program and office program to:

  • digitally sign E-mails
  • encrypt E-mails so that information may be passed securely over E-mail
  • digitally sign document for compliance purposes.

In order to obtain and install a digital certificate, please follow the below steps.

Go to https://cert-manager.com/customer/comodo/smime?action=enroll in a browser that is NOT Chromium-based (in other words no Chrome or Dragon). The passphrase here is used to revoke the certificate should the need arise: do not lose it.

Fill out the form with the access code for your domain and your ownpass-phrase.

Read the COMODO CUSTOM CLIENT CERTIFICATE SUBSCRIBER AGREEMENT

and, once you've scrolled through and read it, check “I Accept the Terms and Conditions and click “Submit”.

You will be sent an E-mail with a new link. Click that link.

You will be taken to a new site to complete the certificate validation process, withthe

code and the E-mail pre-filled, as well as the address of the corporate headquarters of Comodo. Enter a new PIN (which is the key to unlocking and using your new digital certificate) and click Submit.

The Validation site will process, and if the certificate cannot automatically downloaddue to your browser settings, you will come to a page asking for you to download or cancel. Choose Download and save the certificate in a place you will remember. It will have an extension of .p12

    1. At the Welcome to the Certificate Import Wizard screen, click Next
    2. At the File to Import screen, click Next
